Audrey Collins Has Sadly Passed Away
18 October 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce that our friend and former Waterski official Audrey Collins has passed away aged 90.
Audrey was secretary to the Cotswold Water Ski Club in the early 70s and was seen with her husband Roy and 2 young sons, Peter and Ian, who were competing all over the UK.
It did not take long for Audrey to be talked into becoming a calculator at competitions by her good friend Gill Hill and Roy was soon to follow on the Waterski officials' trail.
Audrey gained her International Officials qualification in the late 70s with Roy following on as an International Judge soon after.
They were seen officiating together at many events worldwide, with Audrey often being the Chief Calculator.
Her dedicated and hard work in our sport as an official carried on through the 2000s and she finally decided to hang up her pencil and retire from calculating following complications from a cataract operation in 2021.
Roy said: “She did an amazing job as best mate, wife, mother, nurse, teacher, grandmother, great grandmother and helping to hold the business and family together and there is now a huge hole in the Collins family who are all going to miss her so much. Thank you, all my love, Roy (Ginge)” .
