BWSW COVID-19 LOCKDOWN UPDATE
5 November 2020
COVID-19 preventative measures are vital in keeping you, your family and others safe and to minimise pressure on the NHS and other frontline services. As a national governing body we very much recognise our responsibility and duty of care to our affiliates, members and the wider community to continue to support the effort to control the spread of COVID-19.
Public Health England has now published the Regulations in relation to the restrictions which came into force on Thursday 4th November. The new national restrictions will supersede the tiered system and all areas of England will be under the same restrictions until 2nd December. The unequivocal full closure restriction which relates to outdoor sports venues to include water skiing and wakeboarding details:
“Outdoor sports centres or amenities, including water sports, stables, shooting and archery venues, golf courses, driving ranges, outdoor gyms, outdoor swimming pools, water parks and aquaparks.”

We support the Government’s desire to return to normality in a measured way and we recognise that we have a role to play by providing guidance to and supporting the water skiing and wakeboarding community. We will continue to engage with DCMS, Sport England and The Sport & Recreation Alliance and make appropriate representations for the safe return of our sport. We will notify members of any changes if and when they occur and assist members with any variations and guidance that might develop at a more localised level.
Stay safe during this difficult period …
