E & A Open Tournament Championships – LLEIDA SPAIN

The British team came a very creditable 4th at the E&A Open Championships at Lleida in Spain
Considering this new young team who stepped up to compete with Europe’s best at Open level had only 2 team members with experience at these Championships before, their final team place at the event only just missed out on a medal.
The team members were Sanchia Outram, Joel Poland, Luke Outram, Jack Critchley and Tom Poole.
Will Oliver and Andrew Critchley also competed at the event as wild cards.
The only GB medal of the championships came from Jack who after the preliminary round was in 3rd place with a distance of 61.9m. In the jump final Jack added nearly 3 metres to that with a leap of 64.5 but was later narrowly beaten by Vladimir Ryanzin from Russia with a distance of 64.8m.
The only other finalist was Luke, who with a score of 8990 in the preliminaries made the finals in 11th spot, but unfortunately was not able to improve on that score.
For the first time in many years GB did not have a skier in either of the male or female Slalom finals, something of a surprise to most of the other countries at the event.
