The 26-year-old British waterskier is the 2025 Moomba Masters Men's Jump and Overall Champion.  He also placed third in tricks and fifth in slalom.

Visa issues mean it's been a while since Joel was able to travel to Australia to compete at the Moomba Masters, which is held every March on the Yarra River in the heart of Melbourne.

In 2025, he came back with a bang.  

He took the Men's Jump title with 69 metres, beating Austria's Luca Rauchenwald (66.7m). Pol Duplan-Fribourg of France was third with 64.2m, just pipping GB's Jack Critchley (64m).

Earlier Joel earned his first podium of the year.  His 12,030 points in Men's Tricks was just 10 points behind second placed Mati Gonzalez of Chile.  The winner was the USA's Jake Abelson (12,230).

In Men's Slalom, Joel finished just behind GB's Freddie Winter, whose fourth place - just two buoys short of the winner's score - is remarkable considering he suffered a terrible leg injury last summer which kept him off the water for eight months until January this year.

Charlie Ross (Canada) won with 4 buoys at 10.75m.  Italy's Thomas Degasperi was second (3.5 at 10.75m) and Lucas Cornale (Australia) was third with 3 at 10.75m. 

Freddie scored 2 at 10.75m and Joel 1.5 at 10.75m.

Sanchia Outram made it a full house of British waterskiers to get through to Moomba Monday finals day. She finished 6th in Women's Jump with 43.1m.

Once the main Moomba Masters was over, Joel went on to win the Moomba Night Jump, a separate knockout competition held in the dark and culminating with a one-jump final contested by the last two men left standing. Joel's jump of 68.6m was more than five metres longer than Luca Rauchenwald's (63.3m).
